After a long week of having my father home he has returned to work. They want him, we don’t. It all works out. From calling my grandmother unmentionable names because she was kind enough to spend two boxes of non-perishables, and some cozy winter jackets; to trying to spend some “quality” time with me. It’s been a long week. I’m glad it’s over.
@ Laura: Yes, it doesn’t make very much sense at all.
@ Josephine: Sometimes my Dad entertains me too even if he gets on my nerves most of the time.
With the Fall Anime Season approaching I thought I might as well link to some trailers (some of these shows have already started. Is there anything here you’d think about watching?
I just had a very interesting conversation with “Daddy Dearest”. I was trying out brush strokes (drawing hair) in Gimp Shop and he asked me “That’s Japanese. What does that say?” “…1 those are strokes for hair. Secondly that’s not a language. I proceeded to show my father Japanese characters, so he decided to “correct” me. Yes, “correct” me because apparently the Kanji generator I have on my computer is really Swahili…. Japanese: こんにちは (Konnichiwa) Swahili: Jambo (don’t have the alphabet on my computer but here is a written example) : http://mercury.soas.ac.uk/swahili/images/al_inkishafi/al_inkishafi_1.jpg …How…HOW DO YOU GET THAT CONFUSED?! I think my brain has officially melted.
What is Touch, and why do you always talk about it? I plan to answer those questions with my review of this 26 Volume Manga.
The Premise:
Ever since childhood two twins, Tatsuya, and Kazuya played together with their neighbour Minami. However, as they grow older they begin to realize that Minami is a girl that means more to them than just a childhood friend. Tatsuya, believes Minami loves Kazuya, and of course he knows Kazuya loves Minami and decides to give up on every thing on Minami and let Kazuya have “her” and take her to the Koushien. The Koushien being a giant baseball tournament to determine who is the best baseball team among all highschools in Japan. However, when tragedy strucks the teens must learn to cope, and strive foward for their goals. The manga also focuses on baseball, boxing, and rythmic gymnastics.
How I got into it:
I first heard of Touch when I bought Manga Design which listed a tremendous amount of artists, and their manga. They sung Adachi Mitsuru’s praises quite a bit but I didn’t really think about Touch again till I was reading through the Buried Treasure on The Anime News Network . (My suggesting is not to read the Buried Treasure review it contains MAJOR SPOILERS.) So I hunted around on Youtube and found the opening theme of Touch
I eventually stumbled upon the manga and started reading and just couldn’t stop
Why You Shouldn’t Read It:
I really can’t think of many reasons “why not” but a few may be that
The story starts of a bit slow
It’s 26 Volumes
Artwork is older and you may not be able to adjust to it
Why You Should Read It:
Well rounded characters that are interesting, and engaging
Deep, gripping story line
The sports coverage is accurate, and isn’t boring as it focuses on the athletes, and their emotions (mostly the main characters)
Personally I like the artwork, and the fact that Adachi Mitsuru used watercolour as opposed to overused screentones
Was named #9 of the top 100 anime of all time by Japan
Where Can You Get It?:
You can read the manga in english online but it’s not currently available in America in English, and probably never will be. If your are amazingly fluent in Japanese however you can get it from Amazon Japan.
I plan to do some real blogging once I figure out why the site I uploaded my pictures to made them all purple O_o since I planned to do a Blog post for some avatars and wallpapers I made for the anime and manga Touch タッチ
Most of you may, or may not know about the fact that Canada’s Federal Election is occurring on Tuesday, October, 14th of this year. This is first year I’m eligible to vote, so it’s pretty important for me to know about the policies, and thoughts of the different candidates. Yet, one of the main candidates is being excluded from the leaders debate. They aren’t the Marijuana Party, the Sex Party, or even the Work less Party. No, the Green Party’s leader Elizabeth May is being excluded from all political debates. Why should you care you’re wondering?
For starters our tax payers pay for the Green Parties campaign, for another in the polls the Green Party has just as much support as the Bloq Quebecois, and in another recent poll people said they thought the Green Party was the only party capable of dealing with Global Warming.
In Canada don’t you think we have the right to hear her side? Isn’t this supposed to be a democracy? Even if you don’t support her party shouldn’t you get to hear what she has to say?
Wow, we aren’t all dead from the CERN project. Why am I not surprised? And even if we all died or ended up in alternate universe at least we would have someone to blame?
I’ve been going through widgets and adding a bunch notably: Twitter (looking for a better version though the look of the widget bugs me), and an Events Calender which I plan to fill with cool and geeky events such as Anime Evolution , and other things going on such as the Olympics.
I’m planning to add some actual posts soon, and pages yes….eventually when I’m not drawing or watching the Olympics
My website Get Sporked will focus primarily on my artwork , geekiness, anime, life, and well whatever else I can think of as I go along.
I’m a noob at WordPress so I’m still learning and I plan on developing a layout that looks MUCH better than this one. I’m also planning to install some plugins and widgets to improve the site overall. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a site so I must get cracking.
I’m a 19 year old resident of BC, Canada who planning to get a degree in animation, or an art related field. If not I plan to get a degree in lingustics with specialization in translation.
